Apply on Your Own

All applicants holding a regular passport are required to submit their visa applications IN PERSON to the Chinese Consulate located in Washington DC, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles or Houston. The consulates only accept application from American citizens/residents.

Checklist
  • 1. Original Passport, your valid passport must have at least six (6) months of remaining validity
  • 2. Passport info page photocopy
  • 3. China visa application photo – Detailed instructions here
  • 4. Signed application form: must be typed in black capital letters, hand-written application forms are not accepted
  • 5. Driver’s license photocopy
  • 6. Proof of legal stay or residence status, e.g. Green Card, State ID, Student/Work Visas (only applicable to those who do not have an American passport)
  • 7. Birth Certificate copy and parents’ passport copy (only applicable to those who are under 18)
  • 8. Flight Itinerary (we will provide)
  • 9. Hotel Reservation (we will provide)
  • Please note that the consulate may require more documents (e.g. employment letter, purpose of travel letter, bank statement, etc.) based on individual cases.
Notes:
  • The application process will generally take 4 business days, unless otherwise notified by the Visa Office. The visa fee should be paid upon collection of your visa. They accept credit card (Visa or MasterCard only), money order, and cashier’s check. Please be aware that no cash is accepted.
  • You may entrust someone else to submit your application, and your visa can be picked up by anyone with the original pick up slip. We advise to check the details of your visa on the spot of collecting.
  • Please collect your visa and passport within 1 week. Otherwise your passport may be handed over to U.S. immigration while the visa will also be cancelled.
